Yesterday our team set up a stage at a park in the middle of two soccer courts. Before we began our presentation the court was basically empty, but our team decided to pray and ask God to bring people and use us to draw them to himself. Boy, did he answer our prayer! We said amen and believed by faith that God would deliver, and he did. A crowd gathered - children, teenagers, adults, people pressed in close to listen and watch as we did our best to display the sacred story of Christ. We did dramas and dances, they laughed with us and cried with us. We shared our stories and our hearts and God opened theirs. We did three programs at this location. Many people came up for prayer and were touched by God through the members of our team. My heart rejoices as I think of how deeply our team is growing through these experiences. Through seeing the hearts of others they see the heart of God.
At this park we had more prayers answered. As we began to set up the stage in the park, rain began to fall. We were nervous that this would stop people from coming or somehow hinder our presentation. We prayed for the rain to stop. We had faith that although it seemed impossible and silly, that God would make this presentation great even through the rain, but that if he desired it he could make the rain stop. Well, the rain stopped. As we finished our first presentation and headed to lunch, the rain returned. But when we came back to begin presenting again, once again the rain stopped. Perhaps this was simply coincidence, but our team believes otherwise. God is good and desires for people to know him. The absence of rain enabled us not only to share from the stage but on the ground in the dirt with the people.
Clara used her mad soccer skills to Gods glory and challenged some kids to a game - they had so many laughs and so much fun. The language barrier no longer existed in that moment. Like Clara, we have each connected with people through our hearts even our mouths have had some trouble.
For part of the day, some of our team got to spend time with some kids sponsored through compassion international. They got to present the gospel through a kid's program and through hugs and smiles. These team members also got to put on a service for the youth that night - emily and chelsea led worship and megan spoke.
Last night part of our group had a youth service at our host church. Those of us who came last year were reunited with many smiling faces and happy hearts (: Throughout the night I ran words and watched in awe as I saw the dramas, dances, preaching, and worship truly uplift and challenge the colombian teenagers.
Even now as I am typing, our team is praying with colombians who were effected by KOGs sermon this morning. Right now Brooke is singing How He Loves Us with the alive band (: Between our entire team, we are running three church services this morning and also setting up to share the gospel at Exito (basically walmart, next to the mall). Today we will share the love of Christ at Exito through our actions and words. Please pray that people's hearts are opened and that our team continues to grow in Christ.
